Wonder Woman Costumes

Probably the most beautiful comic book super hero is Wonder Woman, the Amazon princess. So, how do you put together your own costume? You can buy costumes sets sold online for Halloween or parties. Or, you could buy items separately. So, what are the accessories of the Wonder Woman costume and how can you put these all together. The overall costume look is red white and blue like the American flag with gold accents. So the question is, how authentic do you want to look and how much do you want to pay?

Most people will look to the television series as a guide. Wonder Woman was the famous 1975 to 1979 television that ran for 60 episodes featuring Lynda Carter, a former miss Arizona in 1972. So when you look at the comic book images or TV series, what stands out the most? Number one has got to be the Tiara. This is the beautiful crown with a red star that draws attention her beautiful hair and face.

A long brunet wig would be the next on the list that is shoulder length. Two more things easy to get are a red cape and a thick gold belt that has a v shape at the waist. Certainly, a big accessory standout has to be Wonder Woman’s gold or silver bracelet cuffs that are supposedly made of “Amazonium,” an indestructible metal meant to deflect bullets, stop energy rays, and even break falls from a great height. Some people make bracers out of gold color fabric and that would do.

Another part of the costume is the beautiful bustier that she wears with a stylized two W’s logo that also sometimes appears with an eagle in comic books. The TV series just had gold patches or decorative designs. One accessory that costumes places forget is the gold rope Wonder Woman uses to lasso people to tell the truth. Most costumes packages have a skirt, but comics usually show short blue pants with stars. For footwear there are knee high boots with red and white stripes that are sometimes as long as thigh highs. Some red PVC thigh high boots would be nice and easy to get. You could then use white paint or tape to achieve the red and white look.
